Kamuran Gonluacik's Intrahepatic Bile Duct Tumor Treatment Process
Application Complaints:
When Kamuran Gonluacik applied to our clinic, he was faced with complaints such as jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), severe itching, abdominal pain and significant weight loss. These symptoms raised suspicions of a blockage or tumor in the bile ducts inside the liver. Jaundice can be a symptom of liver and bile duct diseases in particular and this situation requires urgent intervention.
Diagnostic Process:
To clarify Kamuran Gönlüaçık's condition and make a definitive diagnosis, advanced imaging techniques such as MR-MRCP (Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography) and PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography) were used. These imaging methods allow us to examine the bile ducts and possible tumors in the liver in detail.
The imaging revealed an obstruction in the intrahepatic bile ducts (bile ducts within the liver). To better understand the cause and the nature of the tumor, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was performed and a stent was placed in the common bile duct (choledoch). During this procedure, a biopsy was also taken from the area of obstruction.
Biopsy and Diagnosis:
As a result of the pathological examination of the biopsy sample taken during ERCP, Kamuran Gönlüaçık was diagnosed with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (intrahepatic bile duct tumor).
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma is a rare, usually aggressive type of cancer that affects the bile ducts within the liver. This tumor can block the bile ducts, causing symptoms such as jaundice and itching.
Treatment Process:
After the diagnosis, a surgical plan was prepared for Kamuran Gönülaçık's treatment. Surgical treatment is one of the most effective treatment methods for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
In this context, Gönülaçık
Left hepatectomy (removal of the left lobe of the liver), external bile duct excision (removal of the bile ducts outside the liver) and hepaticojejunostomy (connection of the hepatic duct to the intestine) surgeries have been successfully performed.
This complex surgical procedure aims to completely remove the tumorous tissue and restore bile flow from the liver. After the surgery, the patient's general condition and liver functions were regularly monitored.
Result and Kamuran Gönülüaçık's Situation:
Kamuran Gonluacik has successfully overcome this difficult process thanks to the meticulous work of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Unver and his team. Early diagnosis and the application of correct treatment methods are critical in the management of complex and serious diseases such as intrahepatic bile duct tumors. Kamuran Gonluacik's condition is currently stable and he continues to be monitored with regular check-ups. In such cases, regular follow-up and management of possible complications after surgical intervention are also an important part of the treatment.
Note: Kamuran Gonluacik's treatment process shows that even rare and complex types of cancer such as intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma can be successfully treated with early diagnosis and appropriate surgical approach. Such surgical interventions require an expert team and a multidisciplinary approach.

Tedavi süreci kapsamında Kamuran Gönlüaçık’a sol hepatektomi, dış safra yolları eksizyonu ve hepatikojejunostomi ameliyatları başarıyla uygulandı. Ameliyat sonrası durumu stabil olan hastamız, düzenli kontrollerle izlenmeye devam ediyor. Erken teşhis ve multidisipliner tedavi sayesinde, bu nadir ve agresif tümör başarıyla yönetildi.
